Description

Contact Form 7 can manage multiple contact forms, plus you can customize the form and the mail contents flexibly with simple markup. The form supports Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filtering and so on.

With the default configuration, this plugin, in itself, does not:

track users by stealth;
write any user personal data to the database;
send any data to external servers;
use cookies.

If you activate certain features in this plugin, the contact form submitter’s personal data, including their IP address, may be sent to the service provider. Thus, confirming the provider’s privacy policy is recommended. These features include:

Installation

Upload the entire contact-form-7 folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin through the Plugins screen (Plugins > Installed Plugins).

While I don't know for sure that security issues with Contact Form 7 are the cause of my server virus problems, I strongly suspect it. My site has been hacked three times with PHP viruses that typically enter through user input forms. In all three cases they ended up with root access to my server. Twice they were sending spam emails, and the third time I think some Chinese people were using my server for bitcoin mining. It's hard to know for sure how they hacked my site but I have a static site, basically a fancy business card. The only obvious opportunity for user input and potential hacking is the Contact Form 7 email form. I looked through the plugin's validation code, and while it does a good job at validating the various types of user input it doesn't seem to do anything at all to anticipate or prevent malicious PHP injection hacks. My themes and plugins were not hacked, those were untouched, so it appears they went through the Contact Form 7 fields and gained access to the server that way.

The Contact Form 7 plugin stopped working after integrating Cloudflare security and disabling reCAPTCHA. However, by simply adding Cloudflare Turnstile before the submit button, everything operates smoothly again. Thank you very much! Everything is fantastic now! To make these adjustments, edit the form template and ensure to incorporate Cloudflare Turnstile [cf7-simple-turnstile] before the submit action when configuring the form.

ここ一年くらいは投稿にショートコードまたはブロックいずれかの方法で埋め込むと、その投稿内（サムネイルなど）でメディア選択ダイアログを表示させようとしても崩れてメディアが選択できないバグがあります。 For the past year or so, there has been a bug that if you embed either a shortcode or block in a post, it will collapse and not allow you to select media when you try to display the media selection dialog within that post (e.g. thumbnails).

We do appreciate authors have done tremendous job for this plugin. However, I don't think it's a good idea to improve something while creating some backward compatiable issues. As a software engineer for the past 20 years, I always think how to improve the codes without side-effect, esp this plug-in has millions of users worldwide. I strongly suggest authors re-consider any major changes next time. I have to be forced to roll back to the previous version to make my web site working. Thanks.
