Support » Localhost Installs » WordPress 6.4 Issue with Php 8.2

  • Hello, I have a local server running Rocky Linux, on which I have installed WordPress 6.4 using PHP version 8.2. I am facing an issue when I go to the plugin section -> add plugin; the available plugins are not displayed, and I see the following error: Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to WordPress.org. Please contact your server administrator.) in /var/www/html/wordpress/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 177

Does anyone know how I can resolve this?

  • Have you contacted your server administrator about this, as described in the message? This error message could be due to security settings on the hosting (which incidentally has nothing to do with the PHP version used).

It is good to check your PHP version that supports your plugins/themes. Do one thing please, go to the cPanel, PHP Version settings area, and try changing the PHP version like reverting it to an old version, and then check the issue. If you don’t know how to check the PHP version or Update the version, check this link
