Support » Plugin: Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth » Very bad coded, it extremely slows down websites

  • Jetpack is very bad coded and heavy on hosting resources.
With continuous synchronizations with WordPress.com it really slows down websites and consume resources.
Also the filters to mitigate this, don’t work!!! Again, very bad coded!

👋 Hey there – are you absolutely sure that Jetpack is causing the slowdown? As in, if you deactivate Jetpack, does the speed improve?

If so, is there a significant slowdown again if Jetpack is the only active plugin? I suspect this could be a conflict with another plugin.

Also, I would like you to know Jetpack doesn’t slow down your site because most of Jetpack is designed to speed up your site by taking the load off of your server, like our site accelerator, stats, subscriptions, and related posts, which are all processed on our end (rather than hammering your database as these features traditionally do).

With that said though, the more Jetpack modules you add, the more your site has to initially process, just like it would if you added a separate plugin for the features, so always make sure you’re only using the features you want.

Here is how you can enable/disable Jetpack modules: https://jetpack.com/support/control-jetpack-features-on-one-page

Also, here at Jetpack, to help you, we have standalone plugins for separate features that you want to install on your site so if you want to use any specific feature of Jetpack then you can install standalone plugins: https://jetpack.com/individual-plugins
